I wasn’t sure what to expect from this having never read it or seen the Disney film. I assumed the book was all about Mowgli but in fact it is made up of lots of short stories about different animals. My favourties were ‘The White Seal’ in which a rare white seal searches for a new home for his people to keep them safe from hunters, and ‘Rikki-Tikki-Tavi’ the story of a courageous mongoos who saves his family from cobras. I also enjoyed the Mowgli stories and found him an interesting character, quite proud and agressive.
